Ready to Read? Check out this list

Clickz author Brian Eisenberg put together this fairly comprehensive list of must reads.

Of course, I’d be remiss if I didn’t suggest the following:

Usability:  Go real.  If you’re an etailer, check out a major site like Chapters.ca or Amazon.com.  Set up an account.  See how the site responds when you register.  Do they ask for double opt-in (ie. you have to respond to an email that’s sent to you to ‘close the loop’)?  Do they respond in HTML or TXT or even give you the option?  All things to think about.  And that’s just for a couple of mainstream book retailers.  What if you’re a publisher?  Think UGC.  If you’re a social tool?  Think about ways in which users can have more control and more stuff for free (while still keeping a sustainable revenue model).

Web AnalyticsThe Web Analytics Association is a great place to visit for resources.

Human Behaviour / Marketing:  I didn’t see anything by Malcolm Gladwell or Kalle Lasn.  Also missing was The Long Tail.  For traditionalists, consider the Cluetrain Manifesto.  And I just came across Change This, but haven’t had a chance to read it.

SEM/SEO/Social:  I follow SearchEngineLand.  It’s a good aggregator of search commentary and well worth the daily summary.

One category that I felt should be added was ResearchemarketerCompete. Quantcast. Alexa.

Now … did I miss anything?  I know I missed a lot, so fire away with the comments!

Take care,
Bill.
