Online Marketing – To The Rescue!

In times of economic woe and when marketing budgets are getting slashed, what are people to do?

Based on this emarketer article, more and more marketers are (finally) realizing that the web isn’t evil and online marketing can help them do substantially more … at a fraction of the cost.

One of the key insights from this research is that managers and agencies are finding it to be quite a challenge to organize and work with a wide array of tools that are available in the marketplace.  In fact, I’ve personally felt that I’m going to have to get a PhD in mathematics to manage some of the tracking components, but I’m sure I’ll survive somehow 😉

Of course, I’m pleased to report that I’m NOT one of those 40% of those in the senior management role who see marketing as an expense.  For those who do see it as an expense, let me ask this simple question:  when done right, marketing as an investment can result in anywhere from $4 to $10 to significantly more for every dollar that you put in, where can you possibly get a better Return on Investment (ROI)?  Not from a house, not from a stock or bond, not even from an investment in a hot dot-com company like Twitter (although it’s close).
