FLASH: Google Buys Motorola

News IconEarlier today, it was announced that Google would be buying phone manufacturer and distributor, Motorola.

The deal is worth $12.5 billion and seals Google’s need to have a device manufacturer as part of its never-ending growth strategy in the mobile market.

It’s not known what this transaction will spell in terms of Google’s other partners that use the Android partner and – to be honest – it may be very disruptive to Google’s growth of Android usage in the marketplace, as their (new) competitors like Sony, Acer and others will see this as a competitive move against them.

The big question:  when will Google buy Canada’s RIM?
