|I have been involved in the internet and online media industry since the “early days” in the late 1990s. I’ve worked as a planner and buyer for marketing agencies, run my own online business, did media sales for the Loyalty Group and has still managed to work with a number of local non-profit organizations.
During June of 2011, I swam the length of Lake Okanagan to raise awareness for water-related issues.
Around the same time, I got involved with the Ontario alcohol trade and pursued a wide range of training related to wine, production, sales and retailing. My agency was called Noteworthy Wines.
Eventually, I started a new online portal (Drinky.ca) that was devoted to connecting consumers with suppliers, but the reality is that the government monopolies are always there, taking everyone’s cut. Suffice to say, I backed away from this business, but might entertain something similar in the future.
I’m now at a crossroads where I’d like to leverage my two decades of work in the digital marketing and ecommerce environment and apply it to a new venture that someone brings to me or I would love to work with other entrepreneurs an an advisor.
I am also seeking ways to get involved with our new local community, Kingston, Ontario. I intend to start by organizing a local chapter of the Ontario Wine Society. Stay tuned for updates about this endeavour!
